Empowering intermodal south-east network: new shuttle train Geleen <=> Vienna

Hupac launches a new shuttle train linking RTC Geleen in the Netherlands with Wels CT and WienCont in Austria. “Another step that extends our intermodal network and responds to the increasing demand of intermodal connections from/to south-east Europe”, says Renzo Capanni, director Shuttle Net South East Europe.

Initially, the service runs with two roundtrips per week. Customers can count on competitive transit times at A/B level and seamless ongoing connections to Hungary (Budapest Chapel), Turkey (Halkali), Romania (Ploiesti) and Bulgaria (Stara Zagora).

“A single consignment traveling on the 1000 km distance between Geleen and Vienna will reduce CO2emissions by 1.4 tons on average”, underlines Capanni. “A valuable contribution to the European climate target in the Year of Rail”.
